Election in 2023: Two senate candidates switch to the APC in support of Daniel
Only one week out from the February 25 presidential and legislative elections, two senatorial candidates in Ogun East have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from opposing political groups.
Dayo Ogunjebe of the Action Alliance and Mrs. Funmilayo Idris of the Action Democratic Party, two defectors, claimed they left in support of the outgoing governor.
At a massive gathering Daniel staged to wrap off his campaign for the 2023 elections at the Ijebu-Ode Local Government Secretariat, Itoro, Ijebu-Ode, the two candidates declared their withdrawal.
Speaking about their decision to work with Daniel, whom they referred to as “the ideal man for the job,” Ogunjebe and Idris explained why they withdrew from the campaign for the Senate.
They assert that the APC senatorial candidate possesses the skills, credentials, depth of experience, and other attributes necessary to successfully represent Ogun East in the National Assembly.

Daniel continues to be tried and trusted, according to the AA candidate, and should receive support from all kind individuals.
The ADP candidate defended herself by saying that voters consistently assured her on every campaign stop that only Daniel would receive their support.
Idris claimed that as a result, she opted to mobilise support for the APC senatorial candidate instead of pursuing her own ambitions.
The South West Zonal Women Leader of the APC, Mrs. Yetunde Adesanya, then formally welcomed Ogunjebe and Idris into the party alongside their followers, promising that the defectors would be assimilated and given a sense of belonging.
