Following their participation in delaying the adoption of the 2022 amended appropriation budget, the Ekiti State House of Assembly has restored three members who had been suspended from participating in House operations.

The legislators are Tope Ogunleye, Yemisi Ayokunle, and Ajibade Raphael.

Following the passage of a motion proposed by House Leader Bode Adeoye during Tuesday’s plenary, they were reinstated.

The Motion was unanimously approved by the House after being seconded by Biodun Fawekun.

The three members’ letters of apologies were previously read aloud in the House by Speaker of the House Olubunmi Adelugba.

The MPs expressed regret for defying the All Progressive Congress’s guidance in choosing the new Speaker to succeed the late Funminyi Afuye, who passed away on October 19, 2022, after a brief illness.

On Monday, October 28, 2022, Kemi Balogun, a member of the suspended legislature who represents Ado Constituency II, was re-instated after making an earlier apology.

Four of the seven legislators who had been on suspension were now back in office.

After that, the House adjourned sine die to give the House’s various committees time to review the 2023 appropriation in preparation for eventual passage.
