EFCC Nabs 24 Alleged Internet Fraudsters in Edo

The EFCC has apprehended 24 alleged online fraudsters during a raid in Edo State. Learn more about the investigation and ongoing case.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Benin Area Command has arrested 24 suspected online fraudsters in various parts of Benin City, Edo State.

The arrests were made public on Wednesday through a post on the commission’s official X account (formerly Twitter).

EFCC reported that during the operation, the agency seized 11 rare vehicles, numerous mobile phones, laptops and the sum of N160,000.

The anti-corruption agency confirmed that the suspects are under investigation and will be arraigned in court at the conclusion of investigation.

“Operators of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Benin Area Command (EFCC) on Monday, September 30, 2024, arrested 24 suspected internet fraudsters in various parts of Benin City.

“The suspects were arrested after receiving information about their alleged involvement in computer fraud.

“Items they seized include 11 rare cars, laptops and phones. A sum of One Hundred and Sixty Thousand Naira (One Hundred and Sixty Thousand Naira) was also recovered from one of the suspects.

“The suspects have given useful statements and will be produced for trial as soon as investigations are completed.”
