Edwin Clark never supported APC for the presidency—Keyamo

Festus Keyamo, a spokesman for the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2023 Presidential Campaign Council, said that Edwin Clark hasn’t backed the party since 2015, even though it won.

Prior to the February 25 presidential election, Keyamo’s answer came after Clark endorsed Peter Obi, the nominee of the Labor Party (LP).

Clark, the Pan-Niger Delta Forum’s (PANDEF) nonagenarian head, praised Obi for his candour, reliability, and openness while serving as the governor of Anambra State.

If elected, he promised to address the Niger Delta’s concerns about injustice and environmental devastation.

Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president, and Samuel Ortom, the governor of Benue State, both supported Obi for president.

On the other hand, Keyamo laughed at Clark’s support for Obi, saying that it didn’t matter that Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president, had lost the 2019 election.

“The same thing I said about OBJ also holds true for my esteemed father, Edwin Clark. In 2019, these elders supported Atiku Abubakar. They have transferred the votes they granted Atiku in 2019 to Obi. Since 2015, my father Edwin Clark HAS NEVER SUPPORTED APC for President,” the minister wrote in a tweet on Tuesday.
