Former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole publicly apologizes to former Governor Lucky Igbinedion, asking for forgiveness ahead of the upcoming Edo Gubernatorial elections.

Adams Oshiomhole, erstwhile governor of Edo State and presently a Senator representing the North senatorial district in the same state, publicly sought Chief Gabriel Igbinedion’s forgiveness for any misdemeanours committed during his service as governor. The latter holds an eminent position as Esama (chief) of Benin.

During the 90th birthday celebration of Igbinedion in Benin, which is the capital city of Edo State, a lawmaker delivered a goodwill message.

Igbinedion’s support was acknowledged by Oshiomhole during his gubernatorial election, as he stated that without the backing of Igbinedion, he would not have won.

“I’ve been searching for an opportunity to apologize to the Esama of the universe. I deeply regret any statements or actions, done knowingly or unknowingly, that may have caused harm – acts unbecoming of a son towards his father.”

I humbly request your forgiveness on the occasion of your 90th birthday, and pray that you may bestow it upon me.

Without your support in 2007 and 2008, I may never have become the governor of Edo State. Therefore, I would like to publicly acknowledge my gratitude for all that you have done for me.

It seems that the lawmaker is looking to garner backing for the All Progressives Congress in anticipation of the state’s September 21 gubernatorial election.

In his efforts to secure the victory of Monday Okpebholo as governor of the state, Oshiomhole is constructing various bridges.
