Edo Guber: Obaseki speaks up about Philip Shaibu and the PDP ticket
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is the only organisation authorised to choose its candidate for the Edo State governorship election scheduled for September 21, 2024, according to Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki.
This was said by Obaseki when he went to see Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State on Thursday in Bauchi with former Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom to congratulate him on his win at the Appeal Court.
He said he had a friendly connection with Mr Philip Shuaibu, his deputy.
He is free to run for office, and as a Nigerian, you are aware that he is entitled to do so under the constitution. No one should or should prevent him from doing so.
“Who will represent our party in the upcoming general elections in Edo will be decided by the party and its members together.”
“I don’t think my vote would determine whether he becomes the flag bearer or not,” he added, adding that he was just one of the millions of party members in Edo.
According to Obaseki, the purpose of the trip to Bauchi was to talk about other important topics impacting Nigeria, as well as other relevant PDP Governors Forum problems.
The governor said that while it was true that things were hard and that people in Nigeria were suffering, it was past time for Nigerian politicians to get over their whining, face the issues, and find answers.
