Julius Abure highlights the impact of economic challenges on Nigerian families, stating that many are unable to celebrate Christmas due to financial struggles, urging urgent government intervention.

Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the Labour Party, expressed his disappointment that numerous Nigerian households are unable to afford Christmas celebrations because of ongoing economic difficulties in the country.

He conveyed this in a Christmas message to Nigerians, released on Wednesday in Abuja by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh.

In his message, Abure urged Nigerians to embrace the Christmas season as a time for love, service, and forgiveness towards one another.

He encouraged them to consistently demonstrate compassion towards the millions of Nigerians living in poverty. He mentioned that Jesus Christ, who was born in a humble manger, dedicated his life to bringing joy and hope to those less fortunate—the poor, oppressed, depressed, and sick.

He stated, “You might be interested to learn that due to economic challenges in Nigeria, many households cannot participate in today’s Christmas celebrations. I urge society to extend love and support to neighbors who may be experiencing various forms of hardship.”

During this time, I am reminded of the men and women in the military who work tirelessly to keep us safe. Many cannot be with their loved ones right now. Thank you for your dedication and service. At this moment, countless brave soldiers are stationed across various regions of our country, working diligently to protect us from terrorists and gunmen so that we can celebrate Christmas peacefully. I encourage all Nigerians, especially religious leaders, to remember these patriots in their ongoing prayers.

The LP National Chairman emphasized the importance of forgiveness by stating, “True joy for humanity comes from being ready and willing to forgive our neighbors’ transgressions. Conversely, nothing brings more condemnation than allowing bitterness and vindictiveness towards those around us to harden our hearts.”

I urge Nigerians to embrace the teachings of Christ, which instruct us to “forgive our trespassers as we seek forgiveness for our own.”

He stated that God pardoned humanity for their sins and loved mankind so deeply that He sacrificed His only son to bring about our redemption.

What a sacrifice. Today’s celebration is incomplete until we embrace and allow the significance of Christ’s birth to manifest in our lives.
