Following an order from a Federal High Court in Lagos, Roger Brown, the chief executive officer of Seplat Energy Plc, has resigned.
While the outcome of a lawsuit brought by resentful firm stakeholders against Brown and others is pending, Brown is to cease representing himself as the CEO.
They charged the Brits of racism, prejudice against Nigerians, preference for foreign employees, and breaking the rules of good administration.
Brown will be out of work for a week, the board chairman, Basil Omiyi, said to Nigerian Exchange Ltd., NGX, on Friday.
The decision, according to the business, was made in response to an ex-parte interim order issued by Judge C. J. Aneke of the Federal High Court.
Omiyi stated that Seplat thinks the accusations are “a baseless and retaliatory response to the Board’s implementation of corporate governance norms”.

Brown’s work permit, visa, and residence permit had all been withdrawn by the federal government in a letter dated March 3 and signed by Minister of the Interior Rauf Aregbesola.
Moreover, he is charged with possessing a CERPAC that is not based on an authorised expatriate quota.
The troubled CEO allegedly ignored invitations from the ministry commission that looked into the situation.
Brown began working with Seplat in 2013 as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He was named CEO in November 2019 but officially took office January 2020.
