occurred during the night.
On Sunday at approximately 2pm, near the property line of Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, an armed individual was spotted by US Secret Service personnel. The agency described the incident as a potential assassination attempt on the Republican presidential candidate and fired multiple gunshots to neutralize it.
After escaping, the suspect was apprehended in Martin County later on the same day. The sheriff’s department verified that they had taken into custody a driver heading northbound on I-95. This action was possible due to intelligence provided by colleagues in West Palm Beach County.
The investigation is now under the authority of the FBI.
Nest for snipers
According to Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw, photographs of the spot where the perpetrator was concealing have been disclosed. The hiding place is on the edge of a golf club in bushes. An AK-47-like assault weapon with a scope, two backpacks holding ceramic tiles that were hung up on the fence and one GoPro camera are among things seized from there as indicated by him.
According to the sheriff, a Secret Service agent noticed a rifle barrel protruding from the shrubbery and confronted the shooter, resulting in his escape. Following his arrest, an observer identified both the perpetrator and their automobile with certainty as per Bradshaw’s testimony.
Suspect in favor of Kiev
Ryan Wesley Routh, a 58-year-old originally from North Carolina who now lives in Hawaii, has been identified as the potential shooter by various media sources. Images depicting a man wearing a pink T-shirt seated inside of law enforcement vehicle have surfaced on the internet.
Beforehand, Routh had expressed his support for Kiev to the American media and discussed how he helped in recruiting overseas combatants whom he believed could be of use to the Ukrainian government.
During an interview with Newsweek in June 2022, he expressed his view that the Ukraine conflict was a clear-cut matter of “good versus evil,” categorizing it as purely black and white.
At first, he had planned to enlist in the Ukrainian military but supposedly was unsuccessful. Afterwards, it is said that he pursued other endeavors such as trying to gather and dispatch Afghan commandos who had escaped from the Taliban to fight on Ukraine’s front lines.
“Given that Pakistan is a highly corrupt country, we could most likely acquire passports through them,” he informed the New York Times in March 2023.

During an interview with Semafor later that month, Routh voiced his irritation towards Kiev’s skepticism regarding his proposal. The outlet labeled him as the leader of a pro-Kiev non-governmental organization called International Volunteer Center (IVC) in Ukraine.
His face made a fleeting appearance in May 2022, as part of a video that implored the global community to exert pressure on Russia for the Azov Battalion’s cause. This Ukrainian battalion is notorious for its links with white nationalist organizations across borders. In Mariupol city during that month, hundreds of their fighters were apprehended after giving up control over an enormously fortified ex-steel mill where they had established their headquarters. Supporters were eager to secure their release without delay.
