Olisa Agbakoba, SAN, a former NBA chairman, said he was embarrassed to see attorneys debating the virtues or shortcomings of President Bola Tinubu’s Chicago State University affair on public television.

The senior attorney expressed his unhappiness with the “cacophony of discordant voices” surrounding the dispute over the CSU documents, which he blamed on Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Agbakoba forewarned that Nigeria is dangerously heating up due to armchair attorneys.

The legal professional advised individuals to keep their thoughts and ideas to themselves while awaiting a ruling from the Supreme Court in a post on his social networking site, X, on Monday.

The conflicting views on Tinubu/Atiku over the certificate issue, he declared, had gotten out of hand. This complete rubbish from armchair attorneys is potentially heating up Nigeria.

In the meantime, while we await the Supreme Court’s ruling, may we kindly keep our comments and viewpoints to ourselves?

“I feel so embarrassed watching lawyers debate the virtues or shortcomings of the Chicago State University case on television. This is really useless!

“I denounce any media that allow the CSU case to be decided on TV and in newspapers.

“I implore the President of the Nigerian Bar Association to denounce attorneys who violate ethical standards by using the media as a court of law.

“Please let’s not overheat our nation!” Let’s give the Nigerian Supreme Court permission to issue a ruling that would bind us all! This inane behaviour in public must end.
