Criticism of Calabar-Lagos Coastal Road: Ohanaeze Assures Obi He’s Not Under Threat of Arrest
Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, has clarified that there is no threat of arrest looming over Mr. Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, contrary to some claims circulating in certain circles.
The Factional Secretary-General of Ohanaeze, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, conveyed this message in a statement released on Friday, addressing the baseless criticisms of the federal government’s Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road project and urging a constructive dialogue between Peter Obi and the Minister for Works, David Umahi.
The statement from Ohanaeze refuted the rumors of an imminent arrest of Mr. Obi as mere fabrications aimed at causing disruption to the commendable work being done under Senator Umahi’s leadership as the minister, emphasizing the need for peaceful engagement rather than public confrontations that could hinder infrastructure development in the Southeast and the nation as a whole.
It also condemned the unwarranted attacks on Senator Dave Umahi by Peter Obi and others, stressing the importance of respectful dialogue and collaboration between the two former governors to ensure progress in the region’s development initiatives.
