Bem Matthew, a man from Korinya-City in the Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State, has been detained for fatally stabbing his wife.
According to information, the crime was perpetrated on Tuesday at 7:03 a.m.
While the deceased’s body was being transported to the mortuary, neighbours stormed the scene and apprehended the suspect.
Officers from the Konshisha Divisional Police Station then caught the man.
The suspect responded to questioning at the police station by confessing to killing his wife with a knife because she was no longer “submissive to him.”
The dead were stabbed in the rib, back, and thigh, according to an eyewitness who requested anonymity.
The man and his wife reportedly had four kids.
The deceased’s remains were interred at the mortuary of Saint Joseph’s Clinic and Maternity in Korinya City.
The Benue State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Catherine Anekwe, could not be reached for comment, making attempts to get a reaction from them fruitless.
