On Wednesday, the Lagos Appeal Court upheld the tribunal’s decision recognising Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Obafemi Hamzat as Lagos State’s governor and deputy governor, respectively.

The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Olajide Adediran filed a lawsuit against Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s election as governor, but the court dismissed it.

In a unanimous ruling, the three-member panel chaired by Yargata Nimpa denied the grounds of appeal presented by Adediran, also referred to as Jandor, before the court.

Justice Paul Bassey, Justice Samuel Bola, and Justice Yargata Nimpa gave the verdict.

Prior to this, the tribunal had affirmed Sanwo-Olu’s election on March 11 as the governor of Lagos.

“The appellants (PDP and Adeniran) failed to prove them even though they were all pre-election matters,” the court said. The appellants arrived and departed with nothing. All they did was enjoy their court day. Their request is denied.
