Court Adjourns Case Against Cubana Chief Priest Over Alleged Naira Abuse
The case against celebrity barman Pascal Okechukwu (Cubana Chief Priest), who is accused of abusing Naira, was further postponed by a Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday until June 25.
At a social gathering at the Eko hotel in Lagos, Okechukwu was accused of spraying and tampering with Naira notes. On April 17, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned him on these three counts.
His bail of N10 million was granted after he entered a not guilty plea to the accusations.
The defence attorney, Mr. Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN), told the court during the most recent postponed date of May 2 that the parties were in the process of settling the case and that they had requested that it be done so in accordance with Section 14(2) of the EFCC Act.

After the position, defence attorneys requested that the preliminary objection be withdrawn, and the court granted their request because the prosecution had not objected.
As a result, the court postponed the case until today, June 5, in order to receive a report on the settlement.
On Wednesday, however, reporters learned that the defence had sent a letter requesting a postponement of the trial.
The case will now be mentioned on June 25.
According to the indictment, the defendant danced at the social gathering at the Eko Hotel and tampered with N500 worth of cash.
The Central Bank Act of 2007’s section 21(1) is broken by the offence.
