Amid turmoil within the PDP, Atiku Abubakar clarifies his stance, denying any role in the party’s leadership crisis. Discover his perspective and what it means for the PDP moving forward.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has disassociated himself from the current leadership crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Atiku’s Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shuaibu, clarified that Atiku is not involved in the current turmoil affecting the party.

The PDP has recently faced suspensions and counter-suspensions, leading to intervention by the PDP Governors’ Forum, the Board of Trustees, and the National Reconciliation Committee.

Analysts indicate that the tensions are connected to ongoing disagreements between Atiku and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

Interestingly, Atiku and Wike were both missing from a recent meeting that PDP Governors Forum Chairman Bala Mohammed referred to as a gathering of all party stakeholders.

There are concerns that internal divisions might reemerge during the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting set for November 28.

When asked about Atiku’s participation in talks among certain PDP members aiming to contest a court order that blocks the removal of acting National Chairman Ambassador Umar Damagum, Shuaibu rejected these claims as “bizarre.”

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President, is committed to due process and has concentrated his efforts on strengthening the PDP into a more formidable party. He is not involved in any actions that could create crises or hinder the party’s progress.

“It is highly improbable and unjust to suggest that Atiku has any involvement with plans by individuals or groups to engage lawyers and challenge Justice Peter Lifu’s judgement in court,” Shuaibu emphasized.
