Corporal arrested in Calabar after promoting self to superintendent
After being moved from Cross River State Command to Kaduna State Police Command in 2015, Buba Adamu, a police corporal, declined to report and instead advanced to the position of superintendent.
In Calabar, the capital of Cross River State, he was accused of engaging in illicit activities while donning the uniform and rank of SP.
Since 2015, the suspect has been working as a “Mobile Police Officer” without being under the direct supervision of a particular police command.
He was arrested by the state police command and is being held.
Adamu’s detention was confirmed by State Police Public Relations Officer SP Irene Ugbo.

It is true that the aforementioned officer was moved from Cross River to Kaduna State in 2015, but nobody was aware that he had stopped showing up for work at his new station.
There are claims that he has been involved in illegal activity in the Calabar neighbourhood of Bacoco, Nassarawa. All of these will be looked into in order to bring charges against him.
Results showed that even though Adamu never showed up for work at his new station, he has now started receiving his monthly wage.
Police in Calabar were notified by worried residents of the Hausa/Fulani Nassarawa community about Adamu’s illicit activities in their locality.
Despite persuasion, they warn the police not to release Adamu since doing so could endanger their lives.
