Commissioner: 10 of the 28 missing passengers from Benue are still being captive
Ten of the 28 passengers of the Benue Links Transport Company who were abducted on Sunday, according to Mr. Omale Omale, the Benue State Commissioner for Power, Energy, and Transport, are still being held captive.
In a telephone conversation with OBASANJO NEWS24 on Tuesday, Omale confirmed the development.
The commissioner stated that two drivers and 18 passengers were all previously freed without incident.
On September 10, authorities in Kogi intercepted the van headed for Lagos between Ajaokuta and Okene.
“With the assistance of the Kogi Police and the local vigilante, we were able to secure the two buses, the drivers, and the 18 passengers without incident, and we have since made it to Lagos without incident.
Ten passengers are still with the kidnappers, though. Four people from one bus and six people from another. The victims’ families have been contacted by the kidnappers, who have made a number of ransom requests.
The commissioner stated, “Government is in contact with the family members and will make sure that all of the passengers are released without injury.
He claimed that security professionals were on the scene to make sure that all of the passengers were released safely.
The commissioner gave his word that the business will take additional precautions to safeguard its throngs of clients.
