Emma Powerful, the Indigenous anyone of Biafra’s (IPOB) spokesperson, and the commanders of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) do not intimidate anyone into giving the group money or joining them, according to IPOB.
Powerful urged the public to report scammers using his name and ESN Commanders to deceive people, claiming that those extorting people are behind the sit-at-home enforcement.
He advised the general population to alert the appropriate authorities about such phone numbers.
“Some agents of darkness have called and threatened some people to give them money using the name of our Media and Publicity Secretary Comrade Emma Powerful, drawing the attention of the international movement and family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), ably led by the great and indefatigable leader Mazi Nnamdi KANU.
The general population ought to ignore imposters and report such phone numbers to the relevant authorities.
“Neither Comrade Emma Powerful, IPOB members, nor agents of the ESN call and demand money from people. The leaders of ESN or IPOB have never insulted anyone to gain their support. Even the family members of registered IPOB members are not compelled to provide money to the cause. The autopilot group, commanded by the criminal Simon Ekpa, is responsible for such evil. Nothing that IPOB accomplishes is done under duress or under threat of punishment. IPOB opposes all forms of criminality.
“Our people should exercise extreme caution because neither Comrade Emma Powerful nor any other IPOB member has the authority to coerce anyone over the phone into giving money to the cause. Global IPOB members and other supporters of the Biafra cause sponsor the IPOB restoration campaign and struggle.
“These thugs and imposters who pose as ESN Commanders sometimes threaten victims and innocent bystanders with violence if they don’t pay them money for IPOB and ESN. No ESN commander is able to do this.
“Our people should exercise caution and keep track of any information about callers requesting money under the guise of Emma Powerful, any IPOB officer, or an ESN commander. When you get a call like that, report it to security services or ESN camps. Through our information lines, the general public can reach IPOB and provide the details of the caller in the interim.

“It is required of IPB members, volunteers, and ESN to track and identify the imposters who used the alias Emma Powerful to threaten individuals with financial penalties. The impersonators are expanding their threat repertoire since they are no longer content to just use the Commanders and name of ESN to threaten people for money.
“They have changed their tactic and are now using the names of IPOB main officials as a kind of blackmail. When one of the impersonators is found and taken into custody, “he or she will see what fire does with the ear of a mouse.” Those who participated in the most recent blackmail and swindle using the name Emma Powerful and this admirable IPOB campaign should go back and reconsider their actions or risk incurring IPOB’s anger.
“Comrade Emma Powerful, please emphasise that she should not phone and intimidate people into supporting IPOB. That is cowardly and immature.
“We don’t use threats or intimidation to get people to support IPOB. The general public should be aware of this and take precautions to prevent falling for a con set up by imposters and faceless criminals operating out of Finland to degrade our citizens. Where is the money made through abducting people and stealing their cars from defenceless citizens?
