Catholic seminarian is set ablaze by bandits in new Kaduna church attack
According to sources, the late seminarian Stephen Danlami passed away as a result of smoke he breathed while attempting to flee the ensuing fire.
A seminarian was killed when gunmen who are thought to be bandits set Saint Raphael’s Catholic Church’s parish home on fire in Kaduna State’s Zangon Kataf Local Government Area.
An eyewitness informed Channels Television that on Thursday night, the bandits raided the Saint Raphael Parish in Fadan Kamantan, Kafanchan Diocese, and torched the structure and a car parked there on fire.
According to sources, the late seminarian Stephen Danlami passed away as a result of smoke inhalation while attempting to flee the ensuing fire; other priests inside the parish home are believed to have managed to escape.
Police in the state said shortly after the incident that they had started a manhunt for the attackers.
The criminals “stormed the worship centre in droves,” according to Manir Hassan, spokesman for the Kaduna State Police Command.
He claimed that despite being unable to penetrate the main structure, the attackers set fire to the house as well as a motorbike and car part that were on the property.
The deceased perished as a result of the smoke he breathed while attempting to flee the blazing structure, according to eyewitness testimonies that were validated by the police spokesman.
