The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) candidate for governor in Enugu State, Chris Agu, has vowed to fight the decision of the State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal regarding the alleged forging of a NYSC certificate against Gov. Peter Mbah.

Agu made the pledge in response to the tribunal’s decision to deny his case contesting the alleged forging of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate by Governor Mbah of Enugu State on Thursday in Enugu.

Remember that Mbah, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for governor on March 18, 2023, had a petition from the PRP alleging forgery of a NYSC certificate dismissed by the tribunal.

Mbah was declared to have been properly elected by a majority of the votes cast in the election by the three-person tribunal, which was presided over by Justice K. M. Akano.

Agu accused the PDP and Mbah, the party’s candidate, of forging NYSC certificates and casting too many votes.

The tribunal ruled that there was no evidence to back PRP’s assertion that an invalid certificate was submitted to INEC, noting that the issue was not raised in particular in the petitioner’s affidavit.

It also noted that in order to establish forgery, both the genuine certificate and the allegedly fabricated one have to be presented.

Agu, however, has claimed he is rejecting the verdict both physically and spiritually, and he said that he provided all the paperwork required for the prosecution of the case.

I’m going to appeal the ruling and take it to the nation’s top court, he continued.
