Contrary to a story that made the rounds on social media, the management of Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has denied that there are any phoney professors at the school.

The rejection was made in a statement provided to newsmen on Tuesday by Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, the university’s vice chancellor.

“The Bayero University, Kano administration has observed the dissemination of an alleged false article on social media concerning the identification of approximately one hundred fictitious professors employed by Nigerian universities.”

We would want to say categorically that the purported publication was false, manipulated, and spiteful, and that it could harm Bayero University’s well-deserved notoriety.

The alleged publication falsely stated that it had found 20 of these impostor professors employed by BUK. As seen by the most current global rankings published by globally recognised university assessors, we vehemently reject the presence of such in our extremely respectable university.

Professor Abbas added, “It’s also important to remember that the National Universities Commission (NUC) has refuted reports that there are any fraudulent teachers at our universities.

He called attention to the fact that the aforementioned 20 phoney professors are not employed by the university, pointing out that they are merely the creations of the people who create the false information.

Because the publication was “not only fake but also intended to destroy the reputation of Nigerian universities by some enemies of progress,” the management urged the public to ignore it.

To be clear, Bayero University, Kano places a higher priority on quality and standards in all of its operations; this approach has helped the university achieve successes and gain reputation among the world’s tertiary institutions of learning.

As previously reported, Times Higher Education, based in the United Kingdom, placed BUK as the second-best university in Nigeria with regard to international orientation and the fifth-best university in Nigeria with regard to research, training, and academic programme excellence.

Furthermore, the university was ranked as the third-best Value University for overseas students by StudyAbroadAide, a South Korean-based worldwide educational database assessor. All of these accomplishments were made possible by the university’s high calibre production of highly skilled employees and capable graduates.

The message went on, “The public is advised to disregard the publication in light of the aforementioned information.”
