BREAKING: New spokesperson appointed by Navy
The appointment of Commodore Aiwuyor Augustine Adams-Aliu as the new Director of Naval Information and official spokesperson for the Nigerian Navy has been approved by the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla.

He takes over from Rear Admiral Ayo-Vaughan, who has been redeployed to Headquarters Naval Training Command as the Chief Staff Officer.
A statement released by Rear Admiral JD AKPAN, the Chief of Policy and Plans (Navy), on Friday, March 22, highlighted Adams-Aliu’s background as a veteran journalist who previously worked as an editor at the Daily Times of Nigeria before joining the Nigerian Navy.
Aiwuyor’s early career in journalism provided him with valuable experience in media relations and public speaking, skills that will be beneficial in his new role as the Navy’s spokesperson.
Commodore Adams-Aliu’s educational background includes graduating from the Nigerian Defence Academy in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry and being commissioned into the Nigerian Navy in 2000 as part of the 47 Regular Course.
Throughout his career, he has attended various professional courses such as the Captain Career Course at the United States Army Infantry School in Atlanta from 2007 to 2008, as well as the Junior and Senior Staff Courses at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, in 2004 and 2010 respectively.
Additionally, Adams-Aliu has completed courses at the Naval War College Nigeria in 2018 and the United States Naval War College in 2019, further enhancing his knowledge and expertise in naval operations.
His naval career began as a Watch Keeping Officer on different Nigerian Navy Ships from 2000 to 2004, and he later served as a military observer in the United Nations Mission in Liberia from 2011 to 2012.
Notably, he also held positions as the Officer in Charge of the Nigerian Navy Ship BENIN and Squadron Commander of the SHA, showcasing his leadership capabilities and experience in various operational roles within the Nigerian Navy.
