In a political shakeup, the daughter of former Delta State Governor James Ibori leaves the PDP for the APC, signaling a new direction in her political career.

Erhriatake Ibori-Suenu, daughter of former Delta State Governor James Ibori, has left the House of Representatives caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party.

In a letter read on the House floor on Thursday, Ms. Ibori-Suenu announced her switch to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Her father, Ibori, served as the Governor of Delta State from 1999 to 2007 and is thought to have maintained his influence over the political framework of the PDP in that state.

Ms. Ibori’s switch in allegiance is the most recent event amid a wave of defections impacting the minority caucus.

Previously, four members of the Labour Party caucus switched allegiance to the APC.
