BREAKING: Governor Fubara Locked Out of Rivers Assembly Complex During Budget Presentation

On Wednesday, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State was denied entry to the quarters of the Rivers State House of Assembly, which is currently where lawmakers conduct their plenary sessions.
It was learned that the governor arrived at the Assembly quarters on Wednesday morning to present the state’s 2025 budget but encountered a locked gate, blocking his entry.
Fubara previously committed to executing the Supreme Court’s decision, which encompasses the formal unveiling of the 2024 budget.
The budget was first introduced to a faction consisting of four Assembly members in December 2023.
The Assembly gave the governor a 48-hour deadline last week to present the 2025 budget.
In response, Fubara mentioned that he was waiting for the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the court judgment before moving forward.
On Sunday, a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Tammy Danagogo, and addressed to Speaker Martins Amaewhule invited lawmakers for discussions on the Supreme Court ruling.
The discussions were anticipated to address topics like the budget presentation and the payment of overdue salaries to legislators, among other matters, in order to chart a way forward for the state.
