DSS invades CBN, takes over Emefiele’s office

Agents of the Department of State Security (DSS) have taken over Godwin Emefiele’s office at the apex bank’s main office.

The troubled CBN governor and the DSS have been at odds over the financing of terrorism.

Emefiele hadn’t been in the country while he was on his annual leave, and the DSS had already asked a judge to keep him in custody.

In December 2022, the FCT High Court said that the secret agency couldn’t hold Emefiele, ask him to come in, or arrest him.

On Monday at midday, 20 armed trucks from the DSS assaulted the CBN headquarters.

Additionally, the agents prevented any bank employees from entering Mr. Emefiele’s office.
