BREAKING: Cabinet Reshuffle: Tinubu Dismisses Five Ministers and Introduces Seven New Appointments
In a significant cabinet reshuffle, President Tinubu has sacked five ministers and appointed seven new officials to his administration. This move aims to enhance governance and drive effective policy implementation in Nigeria.
After months of increasing pressure for President Bola Tinubu to reshuffle his cabinet, the former governor of Lagos State dismissed five ministers on Wednesday.
He additionally reassigned 10 ministers to new ministerial roles and nominated seven new ministers for Senate approval.
The President dismissed Uju-Ken Ohanenye from her position as Minister of Women Affairs, Lola Ade-John as Minister of Tourism, Tahir Mamman as Minister of Education, Abdullahi Gwarzo as Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, and Jamila Ibrahim as Minister of Youth Development.
Tinubu appointed Bianca Odumegu-Ojukwu as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Nentawe Yilwatda as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, thereby officially concluding Betta Edu’s suspended tenure.
The President nominated Maigari Dingyadi as Minister of Labour and Employment, Jumoke Oduwole for Minister of Industry, Idi Maiha to lead the newly established Ministry of Livestock Development, Yusuf Ata as Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, and Suwaiba Ahmad as Minister of State for Education.
Earlier on Wednesday, the President declared that the Ministry of Nigeria Delta Development has been abolished and introduced the Ministry of Regional Development as its replacement to manage the activities of all regional development commissions.

The Regional Development Commissions that will fall under the supervision of the new Ministry include the Niger Delta Development Commission, the South East Development Commission, and those for both North East and North West regions.

Tinubu eliminated the Ministry of Sports Development and moved its responsibilities to the National Sports Commission in order to “develop a vibrant sports economy.”
The President sanctioned the merger of the Federal Ministry of Tourism with the Federal Ministry of Arts and Culture, resulting in a new entity: the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy.

He emphasized that every appointee must grasp the administration’s strong commitment to guiding Nigeria towards sustainable growth and dedicate their utmost efforts to achieving the government’s key objectives.
The President has approved the following eight actions:
The Ministry of Nigeria Delta Development has been renamed the Ministry of Regional Development, which will now be responsible for overseeing all Regional Development Commissions. These commissions include the Niger Delta Development Commission, the South East Development Commission, the North East Development Commission, and the North West Development Commission.
2. The prompt dissolution of the Ministry of Sports Development and the reassignment of its responsibilities to the National Sports Commission, aiming to foster a dynamic sports economy;
3. The consolidation of the Federal Ministry of Tourism and the Federal Ministry of Arts and Culture into a single entity, now known as the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy;
4. The reassignment of ten ministers to new portfolios;
5. The dismissal of five (5) Ministers.
6. The appointment of seven new ministers for submission to the Senate for approval;
7. The selection of Shehu Dikko as the Chairman of the National Sports Commission;
8. Sunday Akin Dare has been appointed as the Special Adviser to the President for Public Communication and Orientation, operating within the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.
