On his journey from Lokoja, the state capital, to an official engagement, Yahaya Bello, the state governor, was the target of an assassination attempt, according to the Kogi State Government on Sunday.

According to a statement made by the state’s information commissioner, Kingsley Fanwo, the attack took place on Sunday, October 22, 2023, about 4 p.m.

He claimed that the attackers, who were wearing military uniforms, diverted the governor’s convoy and began firing sporadically at his car and the other cars in the convoy. To thwart the mysterious warriors’ demonic ambitions, security guards working for the governor had to act quickly.

According to him, there were three separate locations for the attacks, with the final roadblock being set up outside Kwali Federal Capital Territory at around 4.20 p.m.

Ge continued, “The report of these peculiar attacks has been properly documented at security offices in the state and at the national level for timely and in-depth investigations to prevent recurrences.

He claimed, “We are not ignorant of the fact that some groups are determined to portray Kogi as unsafe ahead of the governorship election scheduled for November 11, 2023.

As a government, we will stop at nothing to make sure that our citizens aren’t threatened with terrorism and bloodshed by desperation-driven politicians.
