Bill Gates praises Nigeria’s Afrobeats and discloses remarks made by his daughter about Burna Boy and Rema
Bill Gates, a co-founder of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, recalled a chat he had with his daughter Phoebe before traveling to Nigeria.
Speaking during the opening remarks of the ‘Advancing Africa: Unleashing the Power of Youth in Science and Innovation’ event in Lagos State, Gates recalled Phoebe telling him he would be lucky to see Nigerian Afrobeats musicians Burna Boy and Rema while in Nigeria.
The co-founder of Microsoft claimed that Nigerian Afrobeats are becoming more and more well-liked worldwide.
Of course, being in Nigeria, I can’t help but emphasize the incredible inventiveness that exists here, the man said.
Nigerian afrobeats are well-liked worldwide. My daughter Phoebe exclaimed, “You’re lucky to go see Burna Boy and Rema. ” when she heard I was traveling to Nigeria.
Gates remembers the performances Davido and Wizkid gave on his previous trip to the nation.
But I also recall that I saw Davido and Wizkid play the last time I was here, and I was quite impressed. My kids believe I’ve moved to a very hip location, he continued.
