Big wins at the 2023 BMI Awards go to Burna Boy and Fireboy

At the 2023 BMI London Awards, Nigerian music sensations Burna Boy and Fireboy DML shone brightly.

The pair was one of the artists who received one of the more than 20 tracks that were recognised as the “Most Performed Work of the Year.”

The selection included Fireboy’s “Peru” alongside British musician Ed Sheeran and Burna Boy’s “Last Last.”

Richard Isong, alias P2J, another record producer from Nigeria, took home the “Impact Award.”

While American singer Doja Cat’s afrobeat-themed song, “Woman,” won the “Song of the Year” award, British icon Gary Kemp received the “Icon Award.”
