Vice President Kashim Shettima announces the establishment of a fashion hub in Benue State, expected to generate 48,000 jobs and boost local economic growth and skills development.

The lifeline of the country’s economy, according to Senator Kashim Shettima, the Vice President, are Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This was stated on Tuesday.

During the inauguration of the Benue MSME fashion hub, Shettima stated in Makurdi that it is expected to generate employment opportunities for 48,000 youths.

Senator Ibrahim Hadejia, the Deputy Chief of Staff from the Office of The Vice President, highlighted that MSMEs provide a robust foundation for economic stability.

“It’s clear that without keeping MSMEs as a top priority, growing Nigeria’s economy will be unattainable,” he stated.

Shettima observed that the Federal Government’s aim in intervening is to promote a favorable atmosphere through MSMEs.

“MSMEs make up 96% of business activities in Nigeria and contribute over 45% to our economy, making them the backbone,” he stated.

If it weren’t for them, more than 80% of Nigeria’s labor force would be unemployed.
