Benue APC crisis: Aso Villa is easily accessible to Gov Alia – Jime
The most recent Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC), Emmanuel Jime, has stated that Governor Hyacinth Alia has not enlisted anyone to speak on his behalf at Aso Rock Villa.
This was said by Jime on Sunday in a Makurdi interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
The All Progressives Congress (APC), which is running for governor in the 2019 election, responded in a statement to claims made by the party zonal chairmen in the state that he was part of a five-person committee that Alia had assembled to falsely represent the National Secretariat and the Benue APC in Aso Rock Villa.
Those who made the accusation, according to Jime, were uninformed of how democracy functioned at the executive level.
As the state’s chief security officer and party leader, he claims that a serving governor always has direct access to the president and does not require an emissary to represent him before the president or the national secretariat of his party.
Most of us view politics as a means of transportation for food, which is a tragedy of our democratic experience thus far. Infrastructure politicians will try to use the diversionary tactic anytime an elected figure decides to pursue actual development.
Therefore, rather than causing needless distractions, he urged the people of Benue, especially the stakeholders, to help the governor in keeping his campaign pledges.
“The governor seems to be concentrating on developing a development programme for Benue, which is desperately needed. This is a very important undertaking that all men and women of good will must participate in, Jime said.
According to NAN, Alia was accused by the APC Zonal Chairmen of disregarding the party in his decision-making, a charge the governor vehemently refuted.
