Bauchi and Jigawa aim to resolve border conflicts
On Wednesday, Mohammed Auwal Jatau, the deputy governor of Bauchi State, stated that the state and Jigawa state governments were collaborating to find a peaceful resolution to border disputes in the communities of both states.
Muslim Lawal, the Deputy Governor’s Special Assistant (Media), stated in a statement that the communities are situated in the Itas-Gadau and Kafin Hausa Local Government areas of the states of Jigawa and Bauchi, respectively.

The impacted communities gathered at Kafin Hausa Local Government Area for a Town Hall meeting, where Jatau, the Bauchi State Chairman for Boundary Commission, announced this.
The Deputy Governor, along by Ahmad Garba, his Special Assistant on Boundary Affairs, expressed gratitude to the traditional and community leaders in both states for their assistance in addressing the border issues in the regions.
He explained that the situation of border encouragement between Bauchi and Jigawa is historical, thus in order to prevent miscommunication and conflict, the impacted communities must stop engaging in any form of border encouragement.
He said, “We are requesting cooperation from all the impacted communities in order to accomplish the intended goals, as this Town Hall meeting is part of the authorities’ commitment to ensure amicable resolution of all border related issues in these areas.”
He was speaking on behalf of Mr. Rayyanu Muhammad Zaidu, the Director General of the National Boundary Commission.said that the town hall gathering was essential to settling the ongoing boundary dispute between the Itas-Gadau and Jigawa villages of the Kafin Hausa Local Government in the states of Bauchi.
Speaking on behalf of the Jigawa state administration as well, Muhammad Saminu Yahaya, the Chairman of the Kafin Hausa Local administration Area, praised the Bauchi state government’s efforts in trying to find a solution to the ongoing border dispute in the impacted villages.
