Desiree Ellis, the head coach of South Africa’s Banyana Banyana, expressed her joy at having the experienced trio of Bambanani Mbane, Refiloe Jane, and Sibulele Holweni back in the squad for the crucial 2024 Olympic Games qualifier against Nigeria’s Super Falcons.

These players are returning to the squad after their last appearance during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
Mbane, Jane, and Holweni are among the 24 players selected to face the Super Falcons in the upcoming two-legged contest.
Ellis emphasized the importance of experience in the team, stating that it is invaluable and cannot be bought.
She highlighted the blend of experienced players like Mbane, Jane, and Holweni with talented young players such as Karabo Dhlamini, Nthabiseng Majiya, Fikile Magama, Sinoxolo, and Noxolo Cesane as crucial for the team’s success.
The first leg of the qualifier will be hosted by Nigeria at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja, with the return leg scheduled to take place at the Loftus Stadium in Pretoria.
The winner of this qualifier will secure a spot in Group C at the Olympic Games in Paris, alongside Brazil, Japan, and Spain.
