Bandits invade NSCDC headquarters in Nasarawa, gunfire reported
A number of bandits have stormed the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Command headquarters in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State.
According to information obtained by Obasanjonews.com, the attackers broke into the Command’s headquarters early on Monday morning while gunfire was intermittent.
However, the assault was thwarted by Command personnel who opened fire on the thugs, starting a gunfight.
It was learned that the terrorists were trying to release a few prominent people who the Command believed to be criminals but were being held captive.
Jerry Victor, the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, said that the criminals used advanced weaponry to break into the Command’s headquarters.

He claimed that while some of the gunmen took up different positions across the building, others tried to breach a section of the fence in order to enter the offices.
“The hoodlums’ goal was to free some high-profile suspected criminals, including informants of kidnappers under the Command’s custody,” but the NSCDC agents reacted quickly and opened fire on them.
Additionally, he affirmed that no casualties were reported from the gunfight between the militants and the NSCDC agents.
