Bandits in Zamfara community kill Chief Imam and abduct multiple people

Bandits have once again struck Zamfara State, resulting in the tragic death of Sheikh Ahmad Rufa’i, the Chief Imam of the Central Mosque in Keita village, Tsafe Local Government Area.

The attack took place right after the isha’i congregational prayer. This unfortunate event follows closely on the heels of the recent killing of Imam Abubakar Hassan Mada, the Chief Imam of the Central Mosque in Mada, Gusau LGA.

Eyewitness Ibrahim Musa Keita revealed that the bandits were first seen along the Kwarin Gano-Keita Road, but despite the warning to residents, they proceeded to launch an assault on the village.

Unable to abduct travelers, they resorted to attacking Keita village, resulting in the death of the chief imam and the abduction of numerous individuals, including women.

The terror caused by these bandits is evident as residents are now refraining from using loudspeakers in mosques during prayers due to fear.

In a separate incident, two individuals were kidnapped in Magazu village, Tsafe LGA, during the early hours of Tuesday, with the bandits shooting indiscriminately.

The situation remains tense, with residents living in fear and uncertainty as the authorities work to gather more information on these distressing events.
