The arrest of a notorious kidnapper, Chinaza Phillip, in Abuja has been confirmed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command. Phillip was apprehended in Kaduna while en route to Kano State with his accomplices and the victim.

A confrontation between Phillip’s gang and the police resulted in a fierce exchange of gunfire, leading to the successful rescue of Segun Akinyemi, an Abuja resident who had been kidnapped the previous day.

The kidnappers were transporting Akinyemi from Abuja to Kano State when the police intervened.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Kaduna, ASP Mansir Hassan, stated that the arrest was made following a distress call, prompting security operatives from the Kawo Divisional Headquarters to launch a manhunt. In a separate development, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike announced the arrest of informants working with the kidnappers during a town hall meeting in Gwagwalada town.
