The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Tinubu and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate are vying for the second and third spots in the 2023 elections, according to Datti Baba-Ahmed, vice presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP) in those elections.
In his remarks to a news conference in Abuja on Thursday, Baba-Ahmed also urged Kassim Shettima, the vice presidential candidate of the APC, to temper his criticism of specific people and their way of life.
The struggle for second and third place, according to Baba-Ahmed, “seems to have surpassed the lines of decency to breach our peaceful activities and our concentration on political calendars,” according to several former major political parties.
“Under the auspices of the National Peace Committee, a distinguished group of statesmen gathered all the presidential candidates to sign a Peace Accord, which serves as a consensus code of behaviour for the 2023 presidential elections.
Despite the initiative’s admirable goals, it is regrettable that inaccurate information about the Labour Party and its candidates has gained popularity during this election year.
Furthermore, he refuted Mr. Peter Obi’s alleged opposition to oil development in the north, adding that “nothing could be farther from the truth.”
He claims that the APC’s campaign against Peter Obi now appears to be very clearly focused on spreading incorrect information in addition to pointless and disparaging personal assaults, which is understandable given that they have run out of divisive negative talking points.
The current vice president, whom he instructed to go sell ice cream, and the former vice president, whom he described as a pure water seller, a noble endeavour that serves the populace better than a certain white substance, were not exempt from the routine insults that have now become Shettima’s trademark.
We applaud Mr. Shettima on his better appearance, but we also tell him that he has to work on maintaining his calm in public and maintaining discipline in his communication.
Additionally, the LP vice presidential candidate requested that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) address the nation on its plans for the ungoverned areas where the 2019 elections were meant to take place.
