Black Christmas: Over 115 lives lost in Plateau attack
According to the Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Bokkos Local Government Area, Monday Kasa, a series of coordinated attacks took place on Saturday in several communities of Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State.
These attacks continued into Christmas Eve, catching residents off guard during the festive season.
The number of casualties is still rising as security personnel, local vigilantes, and hunters continue to search for missing individuals who were ambushed during the attacks.
The assailants not only set numerous houses on fire but also looted farm produce and caused destruction to properties. Governor Caleb Mutfwang has strongly condemned these unprovoked attacks and called for immediate action and community vigilance.
He has instructed security agencies to swiftly apprehend the perpetrators and ensure they face the full extent of the law.
The governor has also urged residents across the state to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. As rescue operations are ongoing, both the police force and the joint security task force Operation Safe Haven have yet to comment on the attacks.
