Assad Declares Syria Is in ‘The Hands of Terrorism’ Amid Ongoing Conflict
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad states that the country remains under the grip of terrorism, highlighting the persistent challenges to national security and stability.
On Monday, Bashar al-Assad claimed that Syria is now controlled by terrorism. This marks the former president’s first statement since his ousting.
Assad’s departure from Syria was unplanned, and Moscow requested his evacuation from a military base under attack.
“I did not plan my departure from Syria nor did it happen at the last moments of the battles,” stated a message on the deposed presidency’s Telegram channel. It further mentioned, “Moscow requested an immediate evacuation to Russia on Sunday evening, December 8,” following his relocation to Latakia earlier that day.
“The statement further mentioned that when terrorism takes control of the state, rendering any potential contribution futile, every position loses its significance.”
