The Court of Appeal’s decision to uphold Abba Kabir Yusuf, the NNPP’s nominee for governor of Kano State on March 18, as the validly elected candidate, stunned the party, which also expressed disbelief at the decision.

The party called the Appeal Court’s decision on November 17, 2022, a miscarriage of justice that jeopardises Nigeria’s democracy.

The NNPP believes that the Supreme Court will correct the mistakes of the tribunal and the Appeal Court and restore the mandate of the good people of Kano State by reaffirming Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf as the duly elected governor of Kano State. This is according to Abba Kawu Alli, acting national chairman, who also called on the judiciary to live up to its calling as the temple of justice and the last hope of the common man.
