APC will not participate in Bayelsa LG elections
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State has officially distanced itself from the upcoming local government selections set to occur on April 6, 2024.
The State Publicity Secretary, Doifie Buokoribo, released a statement expressing the party’s lack of confidence in the Bayelsa State Independent Electoral Commission (BYSIEC), alleging that the commission is biased due to its members being affiliated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Buokoribo further claimed that there is a predetermined list of winners for the elections, which will be announced post the election on April
He highlighted that BYSIEC had initially called for elections and requested parties to hold primaries in 2023.
However, due to internal conflicts within the PDP, the primaries were not conducted, leading to the postponement of the elections to the current date.

The APC spokesperson emphasized that under normal circumstances, once an election notice is issued, only emergencies or natural disasters could warrant a postponement.
However, in this scenario, no such events occurred, raising suspicions about the motives behind the delay.
Buokoribo urged all party members and supporters to refrain from participating in the upcoming election, citing concerns over the fairness and transparency of the electoral process.
