The party’s caretaker committee, under the leadership of Chief Tony Okocha, conveyed this message in a statement released to Obasanjonews.com following a meeting of the committee.
Present at the meeting were Chief Eric Nwibani as the Secretary, Hon Darling Amadi as the Women Leader, Hon Ikenga Chibuike as the Publicity Secretary, and Warisenibo Dan Jumbo as the Welfare member.
Okocha, speaking on behalf of the caretaker committee, emphasized that Ugochinyere Ikenga, being a non-Rivers man, had no authority to discuss matters related to Rivers State.
He pointed out that Ugochinyere represents the Ideato Federal constituency in Imo State and not any of the 13 federal House of Representatives seats from Rivers State, questioning his qualifications to speak about Rivers.
Okocha also criticized Ugochinyere’s lack of action regarding insecurity issues in Imo State and accused him of being more interested in personal gain rather than helping the state.
The committee declared that they would no longer tolerate Ugochinyere’s behavior and refuted his claims regarding the House of Assembly’s actions and the governor’s rights.
They highlighted that all vetoed laws were bills sent to the governor, who refused to sign them, and clarified the process for the Assembly to override the governor.
Additionally, they dismissed Ugochinyere’s allegations about the Assembly’s operations, stating that their sittings are publicized on various media platforms.
