APC demands Tinubu’s administration declare a state of emergency in Zamfara due to escalating violence and insecurity in the state.

The federal government led by President Bola Tinubu has been urged by the All Progressives Congress (APC) branch in Zamfara State to declare a state of emergency in the state because of persistent security threats.

Yusuf Idris, the State APC Publicity Secretary, made this announcement in a statement on Saturday in Gusau.

“We are appealing to President Bola Tinubu to enforce a state of emergency in the state over insecurity,” Idris said, pointing out that people no longer trusted Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration to manage the crisis skillfully.

“Bandits’ leaders and their gangs have been subdued by the current development of the Federal Government’s fight against banditry,” he said, acknowledging the military’s efforts in the fight against banditry.

He did, however, take issue with the state government’s response, claiming that it is weakening federal operations by launching defamatory publicity campaigns.

Idris claims that the governor, “Gov. Dauda is now bent on distracting the operation through media campaigns and propaganda,” and that the governor has not provided logistical assistance for military operations.

He issued a warning, saying that in order for security forces to function properly, the persistent insecurity needed to be addressed without political meddling.
