The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision to extend the deadline for using old naira notes has been praised by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).

The action, according to the APC PCC, demonstrated that the President and CBN paid attention to Tinubu’s concerns about the difficulties Nigerians were having with the naira swap scheme.

According to PlatinumPost, the CBN moved the deadline for using old naira notes from January 31, 2023, to February 10, 2023, on Sunday.

The decision was a good start in the right direction, according to a statement released on Sunday and signed by Bayo Onanuga, Director of Media and Publicity for the APC Presidential Campaign Council.

“We want to applaud the Central Bank of Nigeria and Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, for listening to the voice of well-meaning Nigerians on the necessity of extending the deadline for changing over to new N200, N500, and N1000 notes,” it says.

Following the difficulty that Nigerians from all across the nation had accessing the new notes through ATMs and over the counter at banks, several of them specifically asked for a delay of the deadline of January 31, 2023.

This window will give Nigerians, particularly those who live in rural and isolated locations, more time to exchange their old notes and prevent the ensuing panic.

We also congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari for his leadership and statesmanlike qualities in granting this extension.

In the same vein, we applaud Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our presidential candidate, for being straightforward in addressing the worries of Nigerians at his campaign rally in Abeokuta last week.

By avoiding what would have created significant inconvenience for our thronging people, Asiwaju Tinubu didn’t choose the simple route.

At the right time, Asiwaju showed leadership and concern for the wellbeing of Nigerians.
