On Wednesday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) relieved Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume (APC-Borno South) from his position as Senate’s Majority Whip.

Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno (APC Borno North) has been designated by the APC as the newly appointed Majority Whip of the Senate.

According to the party, Ndume’s recent remarks on a live program on Arise Television accusing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration of running a government led by thieves has made this action necessary

During plenary, Senator Godswill Akpabio read a letter addressing the Senate President containing the decisions made by the party.

Ndume was also recommended by the party to step down from the APC.

Senator Ajibola Basiru, the National Secretary of APC and Felix Morka, the party’s National Publicity Secretary both signed the letter.

In a minor reshuffle of Senate Committees, Akpabio directed the Sergeant-At-Arms to lead Monguno to take up the seat of Majority Whip. Ndume was subsequently named as the new chairman for the Senate Committee on Tourism.

In addition, Ndume lost his position as the Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Appropriation.
