Salihu Lukman, a former national vice chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the former director general of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), has stated that election tampering is now necessary for the party to win.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Lukman said he felt compelled to write to a select party leaders in an attempt to make clear where he stood on the issues facing the party and the nation as a whole.

The majority of party leaders are concerned about the way things have been going in the nation ever since President Bola Tinubu took office one year ago.

Living conditions are progressively deteriorating every day due to the fact that the party structures have been demobilised and the government is enacting policies that have reduced the worth of residents’ salaries. As a result, the APC and the governments it governs are becoming increasingly unpopular.

“At this rate, the only way we can win an election is by rigging, thus no probe is necessary. The current adage in the nation is that President Tinubu is a one-term leader. He said, “The harsh reality is that the nation will be lucky to reach 2027 without experiencing any upheavals.

He asserts that in light of Nigerians’ experiences with both former President Muhammadu Buhari and current President Tinubu, the country’s citizens ought to draw the right conclusions and prioritise building a robust party organisation going forward that is capable of subordinating the President and all elected officials to party organs.

“Considering all of this, it is not feasible to stay in the APC, assuming President Tinubu will permit internal party reform to bring the party back to its original purpose, which is currently extremely unlikely. However, I now have to deal with the fact that my membership in the party is worthless and I don’t need to keep pressuring others.

Lukman said he had given up hope that President Tinubu could do much in his first year of aimless leadership and prayed that God would change President Tinubu’s heart to restore what little of his democratic credentials remained.
