German authorities apprehended a knife-wielding assailant who viciously attacked anti-Islam activist Michael Stuerzenberger during a rally in Mannheim.

The attacker also stabbed a police officer who attempted to intervene. The incident, which occurred as Stuerzenberger was about to address the crowd, was captured on video.

The attacker’s identity remains unknown, but witnesses reported that he shouted “Allahu Akbar” before the assault.

The rally was organized by Citizens’ Movement Pax Europa, a group opposed to the perceived “Islamization” of Europe.
