To curb the spread of the Anthrax disease, the Lagos State Government has confiscated, burned, and buried six animals infected with it.

Mrs Olatokunbo Emokpae, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture, said this in a statement on Sunday.

She stated that the instances were detected during animal surveillance on Lagos Island and Agege.

Since the discovery of Anthrax disease in Lagos, no cases of human infection have been found or reported, according to Emokpae.

She stated that human and animal surveillance had been increased.

According to her, free vaccinations and monitoring have been stepped up.

“Animal owners should take advantage of the opportunity by bringing their herd for inoculation.”

“Please report cases of symptoms in animals to the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture Director of Veterinary Services via telephone at 08023427594, 08180703010, or contact the Veterinary Epidemiologist at 08023328244,” she stated. (NAN
