Alleged Fraud: PDP Chieftain, Onuesoke advises Yahaya Bello to surrender to arrest and protect himself
Chief Sunny Onuesoke, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a former Delta State Gubernatorial aspirant, has publicly called for the embattled former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, to present himself to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for investigation.
Onuesoke’s statement comes in response to the recent arrest of the ex-governor of Kogi State. Speaking to reporters at the Asaba International Airport, he emphasized the importance of Bello following the example set by former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, and other influential Nigerians who have cooperated with EFCC investigations.
Expressing his concerns, Onuesoke questioned Bello’s reluctance to comply with the investigation, stating that if he has nothing to hide, he should not delay the process.
He highlighted the significance of upholding the law and criticized the actions of the police officers who obstructed the EFCC’s attempt to arrest Bello, urging for immediate withdrawal of the officers and legal action against them for obstructing justice.
The incident involving the police officers preventing EFCC operatives from apprehending Yahaya Bello at his Abuja residence has raised further questions about the former governor’s involvement in alleged corruption, prompting calls for transparency and accountability in the ongoing investigation.
