Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, the governor of Benue State, has revealed that the federal government has given the go-ahead for the construction and upkeep of federal roads in the state.

Tersoo Kula, the governor’s chief press secretary, announced this to the public in Makurdi on Friday.

Alia pledged that, with his direction, more road networks will be built and restored throughout the state.

Aliade-Gboko- Yandev, Gboko- Lessel- Ihugh- Tse Mker, and Oju-Otukpo roads are among the federal highways in the state that the governor says need to be renovated.

In the statement, Kulas claimed that the governor is in constant touch with the federal government to expedite the construction of the Makurdi-Ugbema road and the restoration of some failing sections of the Katsina-Ala-Vandeikya-Ogoja route.

He stated: “Apart from the ongoing construction of roads/streets within Makurdi metropolis, some other metropolises in the state including, Gboko, Otukpo, and Katsina-Ala will soon receive similar attention adding that opening of rural roads is also prominently featured in the plans.”

Kula continued by saying that Alia demanded increased backing for both his administration and the federal government led by President Bola Tinubu.
